Oh man yes! I can't imagine someone doing that, especially since your blog has soooo much free stuff. I had a really tough customer last year who ordered a random grab bag, and then purchased a set of printable bookmarks. She didnt like some of the things she got in the random grab bag... so I sent her more for free. She also decided she didnt like the design of the printables and told me how to change it. I had been mildly annoyed at her language toward me the whole time (super bossy and assuming), but wasn't letting it get me down. I politely told her no, I was not going to change the design. I did say she could order a custom set for $10 and I could make them to her specifications if she wanted.

At that point she flipped OUT. She kept saying she was a teacher. That sometimes I had to do things I didn't want to do, that is business and the customer is always right. I shut down. I went into robot mode and only replied with polite, emotionless responses. This enraged her and she started calling me names, she called me a thief, a terrible artist, never in all her years has she met someone so disrespectful, who do I think I am asking for MORE money when her experience has been so nightmarish, etc etc.

Eventually she stopped and I waited for the horrible review to pop up. Days passed and finally there it was. Only she left 3 stars so I couldnt reply to her. It made me so angry, because I was so ready to tell the world all of the things I had done for her .. for the 15$ she spent I had gone out of my way to make her happy. But I didn't have to write that response. I haven't had anything like that happen again, but I have had some not stellar reviews ( uh like .. 3, I'm honestly swimming in super reviews) but I feel like now they don't get to me. I thought about it so much and kept telling myself "you don't have to do custom work for free. I set the price, and the customer has the freedom to decide if they want to buy it or not! that is how it works" And I think telling myself that so many times I finally am okay with it. I wonder if she ever came back to my shop and saw hers was the "unpopular opinion" and if she realizes she was the problem, not me. My very own mild revenge fantasy =D

I just opened my shop so I don’t have any reviews yet, but I am so glad I listened to this! I am defiantly someone who takes disappointment from customers very personally (I’ve had an offline business for 8 years). This was something I needed to hear in advance.
